Our Responsibility
We Are Early
But We Are Intentional
ProteinChai is a new brand. We don't have years of sustainability data to report, and we won't pretend otherwise.
What we do have is a set of clear values that have shaped every decision so far - from choosing carton packaging over plastic, to the intent behind how we source our spices.
We are early. We are learning. And we are committed to improving our understanding of our own impact as we grow - and to sharing that honestly.
Packaging
Why We Chose
the Carton
When we designed ProteinChai, plastic was never on the table. The carton format is one of the most environmentally responsible choices in food and beverage packaging - predominantly made from paperboard, a renewable resource, and widely recyclable.
Cartons are also lightweight, which reduces transport emissions per unit. Research into aseptic carton formats consistently points to a lower carbon profile compared to many plastic alternatives - though we will share our own verified figures once we have completed production and can measure our actual footprint.
The ambient shelf life that the carton enables also removes the need for refrigeration throughout the supply chain - reducing cold chain energy use at every step between production and the consumer.

Our Commitments
What We're Working Towards.
Recyclable Packaging
Our cartons are predominantly made from renewable paperboard and are widely recyclable. We are working with our packaging partners to improve recyclability across all components over time.
Community Reinvestment
Chai is a South Asian tradition. We intend to reinvest a portion of profits into community programmes that honour South Asian heritage.
Carbon Transparency
We intend to be honest and open about our environmental footprint - covering production, packaging, and delivery - and to share that information publicly as we grow.
